I am Briana Allen and I work as a Technology Coach in a K-8 district. I am a strong believer of using technology in the classroom as a learning tool, rather than just teaching how to use technology. As a Tech Coach I have the opportunity to do just that! I work with teachers on planning lessons that integrate technology in ways that will provide students with greater curricular understanding, experiences that are unseeable or unattainable in the classroom, that invoke their creativity or have them simulating real-world events while solving real-world problems. In addition, I provide professional development on a variety of software and web sites, emphasizing how these tools can be incorporated into the classroom.
This is no simple task. Not only does it require reteaching teachers about today's technology, which is second nature to students, but it requires showing students that there is more to their computer than games, social networks and chatting!
Within this site you will find resources for integrating technology, new technology tools and how-to's on using a variety of technologies. Additionally, you will find technology integration projects I have created, links to collections of technology integration projects, great sites for students and examples of projects.
The final two sections serve as a resource for my classes at National-Louis University and as a place to showcase the various projects and trainings I have done.
