Briana Allen is an educator, DIYer, photo snapper, crafter, reader, cat lover, board game enthusiast, outdoor adventurer, runner and more!
Briana has spent over 15 years in education as a middle school teacher, K-8 computer teacher, adjunct instructor, Technology Director, Instructional Technology Coach, and Educational Technology Director. Currently, Briana is the Educational Technology Director for a PK-8 public school in suburban Chicago. In this role, she is focused on integrating technology into the curriculum in authentic ways, exploring emerging technologies, creating professional development opportunities, guiding the school’s technology vision, and maintaining the school’s IT infrastructure, website, and technology budget.
Briana’s passion for technology extends beyond the classroom. She enjoys combining her love of crafts, DIY, science, and technology by creating soft circuit wearables, MaKey MaKey projects and, even Altoid tin flashlights!
Briana has presented and facilitated workshops at the local and state level with a focus on integrating technology into the curriculum, iPad 1:1 program implementation, apps for creativity and assessment, Promethean Interactive Whiteboards, and Google Apps and Google Earth. Additionally, Briana gives back to the Ed Tech community by serving on the Illinois Computing Educators (ICE) Governing Board, Executive Board and Conference Committee. Her roles have included Secretary, President, and Volunteer Committee Chair, and ISTE 2018 Program Committee BYOD Co-Chair. She also served on the Northern Illinois Computing Educators (NICE) Executive Board as president and as the NICE Mini Grant Coordinator.
